Our Artists
Diego
My name is Diego Cuellar. I am a tattoo artist specializing in Neo-Traditional, Japanese, and Black and Grey style tattoos. I’ve been tattooing for 11 years now and have been working in tattoos shops since I was 21 years old. I believe that as an artist , you need something to push against. For me that thing has always been other peoples opinion. It’s always a struggle to remain true to your own inner vision.
I don’t think I’m different from anyone else in where inspiration comes from: music, dreams, comics, and so on. Also my brother and two nephews are a big help to me. Generally speaking, the inspiration varies from subject to subject depending on my needs or the clients request. Most of my work is color but I like to do black and grey too. I love Japanese style. All the colors and bold lines - I can do it every day. I want my work to look different and unique for my customers.
I’ve been working at Rebel Ink since day one of their opening. I love working with them, and became really good friends with John; we’re always pranking each other. It is like a whole different vibe, that’s for sure. Rebel Ink is family to me
Arthur
My Name is Arthur Volper and I grew up in Queens, New York. I came to America from Ukraine when I was five years old. I attained a bachelor’s degree in Marketing Management with no intentions of pursuing a career in art. It wasn’t until the age of 28, when my wife became pregnant, that I picked up a pencil for the first time in years. Having only drawn as a child sporadically, I didn’t begin to take it seriously until my first charcoal a few months later before the birth of my son. At this point i became focused on portraits and realism.
At this time I began to collect tattoos from artists I admired. It all culminated in one moment when, while reading a book called light and shadow by Ian Robert McKnown, I decided I was going to become a tattoo artist.
Eventually I broke skin for the first time on my own leg and began to inch towards my goal. Fast forward 4 years, and I’m now, a full time artist working out of Rebel Ink in Queens, New York. It is shop that has given me an amazing opportunity and freedom to build clientele while honing my craft. A place where I can practice many different styles while focusing on my first true love, which is black and grey realism.
Tricia
Tricia is our shop manager and owner. She started Rebel Ink in Ozone park six years ago with her son. Since then she has grown the business to serve the community of Ozone Park, Queens and surrounding areas. She specializes in Microblading a permanent make up. She strives to give her clients a long lasting realistic look that they can wear proudly every day.
James
My name is James Jurado. I moved to New York City from Portland, Oregon. I’ve had different careers in art since college. I transitioned to tattooing after being a graphic designer for 8 years. I’m grateful for my computer education because it has allowed me to approach tattoos with an entirely different skillset. After tattooing became my newest obsession, I have found ways to marry graphic design with tattooing.
I began working at Rebel Ink around a year ago and have been grateful for their support ever since. They allow me to take control of my creative vision and find clients to work with us. I’m currently specializing in blackwork and fineline black and grey tattoos.
